Outlining the collaboration story

The client’s product

The client offers a streaming service that lets users personalize event broadcasts by selecting scenes on their phone for display on big screens.

Inquiry for Oxagile

The project involves the development of SMART TV applications for the Tizen and WebOS platforms.

Solution we built

Oxagile delivered SMART TV applications for Samsung and LG TVs, implementing a video stream synchronization algorithm with retracing for mismatched points.

The idea behind the project: Broadcasts in viewers’ hands

“We’re creating something that lets people truly connect with event broadcasts, even from the comfort of their own home. The idea is to give them the freedom to choose what they see on the big screen, almost like they’re part of the action. By letting users pick and switch scenes right from their phone, we’re offering a more personal and immersive experience — where they get to feel like they create their own broadcast, making each moment uniquely theirs.”

Ensuring smooth immersive broadcasts with sync technology

Goal

Synchronize video streams

A special synchronization algorithm was developed for Tizen and WebOS, featuring retry mechanisms for mismatched points.

Challenge

Variety of TVs

Synchronization on WebOS was complicated by varying TV behaviors, particularly differences in the content timing parameter, which excludes a completely universal solution.

Overcoming submission challenges with a demo ticket

“We faced a challenge during the TV store submission process, as the app relies on the mobile device for user interaction and has limited control through the TV remote. There was a risk the app might not be approved.

To mitigate this, we added a demo ticket for the review to avoid needing to connect the phone initially. Additionally, we received written confirmation from the stores that the app, with its minimal TV interaction, would be accepted.”

No release without assured high quality

The QA team worked in close collaboration with the development team to perform cross-platform testing on Smart TVs, Android, and Apple devices.

  • Mobile device connection to Smart TV, Android TV, and Apple TV.
  • Code entry and access to the launch screen.
  • Smooth event playback on TV.
  • Seamless scene, camera, and stream switching via mobile.
  • Switching between different big-screen platforms.
  • User logout scenarios across all platforms.
  • Event playback restoration when re-entering unexpired events.
What’s next?

The future phases of the project include expanding coverage to support older Samsung and LG models, as well as integrating with Titan OS and VIDAA platforms. This will ensure broader compatibility and enhance the overall user experience across a wider range of devices.
